How about easily installable? Will the backboard or rim dent? With the following reviews, we’ve done our best to answer these questions and more. So let’s see what hoops are out there:
Best Basketball Hoops 2017
Table of Contents
The best basketball hoops on the market ought to be easily installable, adjustable, and moveable. With the Lifetime 1221 Pro-Court Portable Basketball System, you won’t have to break a sweat until you start playing. It provides a telescoping mechanism that adjusts between 7.5 to 10.5 feet, and with its 27-gallon base, you can easily roll this hoop where you want it.
A good basketball hoop is made from good material. With entirely weather-resistant material, the Lifetime 1221 Pro-Court Portable Basketball System is specifically designed to endure harsh weather conditions. It also comes with an 18-inch solid steel rim with steel braces, and if all that isn’t assurance enough, it comes with a 5-year warranty.
What I like
With its durability, ease of use, and warranty, there seems to be a lot of benefits to this item. In all estimations, it will likely last you in the long run, be easy to use, and offer you a safety net in case some minor (or major) amount of damage comes to it.
What I don’t like
While at first glance it might seem like the Lifetime 1221 Pro-Court Portable Basketball System has a lot going for it, it has one major flaw: its level of quality. Simply put, this product has the lowest quality of design on our list. Its backboard is the smallest and has the least rebound potential, while its frame is the least stable.
A great basketball is a great basketball hoop, but one that’s difficult to install can be incredibly frustrating. Fortunately, with its particularly efficient assembly process, you can install the Silverback NXT Portable Basketball Hoop in an hour and a half at most. No more wasting hours on installation that could have been spent playing quality basketball.
All the best basketball hoop begin with great design, and the Silverback NXT Portable Basketball Hoop is no exception. With its 55” W x 33” H backboard and the ability to adjust between 7.5’ and 10’, this Silverback product has some of the finest backboards on the market. This backboard also provides proper rebounding with its Infinity Edge wrap-around perimeter.
Even with a quality backboard, a basketball hoop is only as good as its frame. Luckily, the Silverback NXT Portable Basketball Hoop has an exceptional Stabili-Frame steel-on-steel connection between its base and main pole for top-notch stability. Plus its ErgoMove wheel-barrow design provides easy and convenient lift-and-roll mobility.
What I like
There’s a lot to like about this Silverback product. For one, it has vastly superior rebounding and stability when compared with the Lifetime product on our list. Not only that, but it also offers a simple assembly process that so many similar products lack. And with its easily movable frame and its exceptional design quality, this is one of the best basketball hoops available.
What I don’t like
There isn’t a lot to dislike about this product, but its most glaring negative aspect is its lack of warranty. While it’s certainly durable, many driveway basketball nets are subject to vehicular collisions. That means if you hit this product as your hastily backing out for work, you’re on your own.
Like we’ve said earlier on this list, all the best basketball hoop ought to have the best backboards. Fortunately, with its 54” W x 32” H steel-framed acrylic backboard and steel board pad, the Spalding 66291 Pro-Slam Portable Basketball System provides broad space, excellent rebounding, and exceptional stability. It’s easily the best backboard on our list.
A good pole offers stability, while a good rim provides proper shot-accuracy. With its Heavy-duty Pre-Slam Breakaway Rim, this Spalding hoop offers the most accurate and durable rim available on the market today. With a 3-piece, 3.5-inch round angled poles, and an adjustable height (between 7.5 and 10.5 feet), this product is also one of the most stable and competent net systems around.
Even with a great rim, backboard, pole, and adjustability, a great net needs to have a proper foundation. Luckily, with its 34-gallon capacity base that can be filled with sand or water, the
34-Gallon Capacity Base Fills with Sand or Water for Stability, the Spalding 66291 Pro Slam Portable Basketball System provides one of the most solid bases around.
What I like
In terms of sheer quality, this is clearly the best basketball hoop on our list. It has everything: a great backboard with excellent rebound potential, a durable rim for dunking, a well-designed pole for stability, and a heavy, proper foundation for additional stability. If you want a quality net, you should look to this Spalding product, as it’s nothing but quality.
What I don’t like
There is virtually nothing to dislike about the quality of this product as a net. However, there is something to be desired in its practicality. For example, it’s not as easy to set up as either of our other two selections and it doesn’t come with a warranty.
Whereas some of our lists are hard to call, this one was particularly easy. We had to give it to Spalding 66291 Pro Slam for its sheer level of quality materials and design. While the Lifetime product on our list has a practical set-up and the Silverback product has a lot of high-quality material, these two items were trumped by Spalding’s excellent design. Boasting a superior rim, backboard, pole, and base, this product is simply the top basketball hoop on the market.
